Burns Colorado Ghost town

Photos courtesy of Mike Sinnwell August 2013

The town is named for Jack Burns, a trapper who built a cabin in the area. Jack lived there until he died in 1891. The Burns Post Office opened on May 14, 1895. Not much left of the “new” town. A few houses and trailers. The photos are of some ranches and out buildings nearby and in the area where “Old” Burns was originally. The photo of the post office is where new Burns is today. This is primarily a ranching area as you can see some of the old water ditches and troughs.
