Davis Meadows / Swedes Logging camp.

June 2018

Not sure what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised with the number of cabins and other structures plus a dump site and a creek that ran lazily thru the camp. Even an old log bridge crossing the creek.

Apparently, a group of Swedish loggers built the camp while they were supplying the Midland Railroad with timber they cut in the nearby mountains. I was puzzled at how they managed to get the logs out. The Midland Railroad cut thru the Fourmile area near trout creek pass. The rail grade is visible driving in and out of the area.

If you hike in like I did the only real obstacle is a steep rock face to crawl down/up but a homemade log ladder is available to use. I preferred to walk around it as that was easier.
