Babcock Colorado Ghost town

Photos 9-2019

A rich silver vein Ore assayed out at 500 to 600 ounces of silver, but the location was plagued with bad weather and poor roads. That meant it was difficult to transport the ore out of the isolated region. Now it sits at the end of the road in an open meadow. A walk across the meadow and a look in the trees and you can see the remains of several cabins. Considering the activity all happened in the 1870’s and 1880;s I guess I should not expect much to be left after 140 years.
