PIEPLANT

Yup, it was named after the many rhubarb plants that grew in the area. Of course, I am not sure if it was named before or after they named the creek Pieplant. The settlement of Pieplant was late in the game as it was discovered in 1896 and the development of the mine didn’t happen until the early 1900’s. It had a post office but that lasted only for two years. By 1910 it was a ghost town caused by the closure of the mine. Several cabins standing, with a little reconstructive help, and numerous ruins. The Pieplant mill remains are interesting to explore.
