Sawpit Colorado Townsite - Ghost Town   Also referred to as Saw Pit Colorado.

Blame it on the Blacksmith, a gent named James Blake. He found ore here in 1895. Named his claim the Champion Belle. The town grew quickly after the first few carloads of ore were shipped and they assayed out real good. Some say the town even celebrated with a champagne dinner after a big discovery in one of the mines.

Originally this area was called Seymour and was founded in 1892 as a railroad stop. By the mid 1920’s the mining had all but stopped and the town was dwindling. Today a wide spot in the road.
