Columbia City Colorado

Photos Mike Sinnwell September 2018

High and windy but spectacular 360-degree views of the Rocky Mountains at 12,00+ feet. No information on the mystery grave. Looks new based on rocks and vegetation around it. But then again, some brave soul could be maintaining it.

On July 15, 1893 Walter Cameron, discovered a vein of precious metal. He named it the Josephine Lode. Several more strikes were made nearby within a few weeks. As late as 1901 the Columbia lode was discovered. That is how the town got it name.
