Bents Fort Colorado Townsite - Ghost town

Photos courtesy of Mike Sinnwell 2006

Well okay I agree. It is not a ghost town. It is a Fort. Actually a trading Post. It only lasted about 16 years and towards the end it was used to supply and support the Santa Fe Trail through Colorado. If you go, take your time in the area as there is plenty to see besides the fort. It was established by William and Charles Bent, along with Ceran St. Vrain,  in 1833 to trade with plains Indians and trappers. The pictures your see are of a reconstruction of the actual fort that was  done in the 1970s.
