Manhattan Nevada Townsite - Ghost town
Nice Church. When you live out here you need to be creative. Check out the siding on the house in the 3rd photo. Wonder what ceiling that came from? Check out the bar as it has been serving customers for over 100 years. Or maybe inspect the church and try to figure out how they moved it, by wagon, to the top of the hill.
Originally established as a silver mining town in 1867 Manhattan still lives on. In 1905 There was a gold boom and the population ballooned to over 4,000 hungry hunters of gold and of other peoples gold. This was a jewelry ore gold find. Another boom in 1909 lasted until 1940. Lots to see.
